Supporting a School

Studer Trust is dedicated to providing continued support to the communities and schools in which we participate. We do this by providing regular follow-up visits to each of our projects, allowing us to assess the maintenance and success of our work, and to determine if additional support is needed. One such example is Chaungsonggyi Government High School, located in the Magway region of Myanmar, about a five-hour’s drive away from Mandalay.

Chaungsonggyi High School was established in 1952, serving seven villages. In 2019, Studer Trust observed that the existing bamboo structure was not suitable for instruction as it lacked a proper floor, dividers between classrooms, and a ceiling. So in 2019, we aided in the construction of a second facility, providing four new classrooms, 40 new student desks, and four bathrooms, allowing for better instruction for all students, particularly those in grades nine and ten.

As we all are aware, COVID-19 has affected schools around the world, including millions here in Myanmar. Chaungsonggyi High School was no different. As cases continued to spread during Myanmar’s first wave, the school was temporarily closed. July 2020 offered a glimpse of hope, and with cases in decline, high schools across the country were permitted to reopen as long as they followed health protocols including social distancing, masks, and sanitisation. But that was short-lived, as the second wave arrived in August. The doors were swiftly shut, and once again Chaungsonggyi High School was closed.

At Studer Trust, we didn’t let this obstacle come in the way of our regular follow-up, and (with safety protocols in mind) decided it would be the right time to come observe the grounds and assess not only how well they were being maintained, but also if there was any need for improvement. Our colleague Naing Min Oo conducted the visit in mid-August, despite terrible rainstorms and road deterioration. The visit started with learning about the school buildings and campus with the help of a teacher. He also met with the school acting principal, a committee member, and other teachers to discuss the cleaning and upkeep of the school buildings. Finally, he asked about successes, challenges, and future plans of the school. He took some photos of the school building, classrooms, and students, which you can see below.

The school building was clean and well-maintained, and the new school principal has even promised to develop more green spaces with trees, flowers, and chances for recreation. Overall, our field manager was beyond satisfied with the condition of Studer Trust’s initial work, which has even allowed for the integration of year 11 students. We are excited to continue to collaborate with Chaungsonggyi High School in the future. As the school principal remarks: “This is a valuable practice that Studer Trust monitoring and evaluating visits will [encourage] their students’ behaviors of accountability and responsibility.”

စာသင်ကျောင်းတစ်ကျောင်း ဆောက်လုပ်ထောက်ပံ့နိုင်ခြင်း

Studer Trust သည် မိမိတို့ပါဝင်သော ရပ်ရွာလူထုအသိုင်းအဝိုင်းများတွင် စာသင်ကျောင်းများ ဆောက်လုပ်ထောက်ပံ့ပေးနိုင်ရန် အစဉ်တစ်စိုက် ကြိုးစားလှျက်ရှိပါသည်။ ထောက်ပံ့မှုများပေးနိုင်ရန်အတွက်လည်း မိမိတို့၏ စီမံကိန်းများတည်ရှိရာဒေသများသို့ ပုံမှန် သွားရောက်လေ့ရှိပြီး အဆိုပါ စီမံကိန်းများ၏ အောင်မြင်မများနှင့် ထိန်းသိမ်းမှုဆိုင်ရာ လုပ်ငန်းများကို လေ့လာစစ်ဆေးပါသည်။ ထိုသို့ပြုလုပ်ခြင်းအားဖြင့် နောက်ဆက်တွဲ ပံ့ပိုးမှုများ လို ၊မလိုကိုလည်း သိရှိစေနိုင်ပါသည်။ မကွေးတိုင်းတွင်တည်ရှိသော ချောင်းဆုံကြီး အစိုးရအထက်တန်းကျောင်းသည် ဥပမာတစ်ခု ဖြစ်ပါသည်။ ဤကျောင်းသည် မန္တလေးမှ ကားဖြင့်သွားလျှင် ငါးနာရီခန့် ကြာပါသည်။

ချောင်းဆုံကြီးအထက်တန်း‌ေကျောင်းကို ၁၉၅၂ ခုနှစ်တွင် တည်ထောင်ခဲ့ပြီး လက်ရှိ ရွာ၇ရွာမှ ကျောင်းသား ၊ကျောင်းသူများကို ပညာဆည်းပူးသင်ယူလှျက်ရှိပါသည်။ ၂၀၁၉ခုနှစ်တွင် ကျောင်းတွင် ဝါးဖြင့်ဆောက်လုပ်ထားသည့် စာသင်ဆောင်သည် ကလေးများ ပညာသင်ကြားရေးအတွက် မသင့်လျော်သည်ကို Studer Trust က လေ့လာသတိပြုမိပါသည်။ အကြောင်းရင်းမှာ အတန်းတစ်ခုနှင့်တစ်ခုအကြား အကာမရှိခြင်းနှင့် ခိုင်ခံ့သော ကြမ်းပြင်မရှိခြင်းကြောင့်ပင် ဖြစ်သည်။ ၂၀၁၉ ခုနှစ်တွင်ပဲ ဒုတိယ အဆောက်အအုံတစ်ခုကို တည်ဆောက်ပေးနိုင်ရေးအတွက် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့ဘက်က ကူညီထောက်ပံ့ပေးနိုင်ခဲ့သည်။ စာသင်ခန်းအသစ်လေးခန်၊ စာသင်ခုံအသစ် အခု၄၀တို့အပြင် အိမ်သာခန်းလေးခန်းတို့လှူဒါန်းနိုင်ခဲ့ခြင်းကြောင့် ကျောင်းသားများအားလုံး အထူးသဖြင့် ရှစ်တန်းနှင့်ကိုးတန်းကျောင်းသားများသည် ပိုမိုအဆင်ပြေသော စာသင်ကြားမှုတို့ကို ရရှိနိုင်ခဲ့ပါသည်။

ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သိထားပြီးသည့်အတိုင်း ကိုဗစ်-၁၉ ကြောင့် မြန်မာနိုင်ငံမှ သန်းချီသော ကျောင်းများအပါအဝင် တစ်ကမ္ဘာလုံးရှိ စာသင်ကျောင်းများ အခက်တွေ့ခဲ့ရပါသည်။ ချောင်းဆုံကြီးအထက်တန်းကျောင်းအတွက်လည်း ထူးမခြားနားပင် ဖြစ်ခဲ့သည်။ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံ၏ ပထမလှိုင်းတွင် ရောဂါကူးစက်မှုများပြားလာသည်နှင့် အမျှ စာသင်ကျောင်းကိုလည်း ယာယီပိတ်ခဲ့ရသည်။ ၂၀၂၀ခုနှစ် ဇူလိုင်လတွင် ကူးစက်မှုပမာဏကျဆင်းလာသည့်အတွက် မျှော်လင့်ချက်များ တစ်ဖန်ပေါ်ပေါက်လာခဲ့ရသည်။ ခပ်ခွာခွာနေခြင်း၊ mask တပ်ခြင်း၊ ပိုးသတ်ခြင်း စသည့် ကျန်းမာရေးလုပ်ထုံးများကို ကျင့်သုံး၍ စာသင်ကျောင်းများ ပြန်ဖွင့်ရန်အတွက် ခွင့်ပြုခဲ့သည်။ သို့သော်လည်း သြဂုတ်လတွင် ဒုတိယလှိုင်းပေါ်လာသည်နှင့် စာသင်ကျောင်းများလည်း ပြန်လည်ပိတ်ခဲ့ရသည်။

သို့သော်ထိုအခက်အခဲသည် Studer Trust ရဲ့ ပုံမှန်နောက်ဆက်တွဲလေ့လာရသည့် လုပ်ငန်းများကို အနှောက်အယှက်မဖြစ်စေသောကြောင့် စာသင်ကျောင်း၏ ထိန်းသိမ်းထားပုံများနှင့် နောက်ဆက်တွဲလိုအပ်ချက်များ ရှိမရှိလေ့လာဖို့အတွက် ကျန်းမာရေးစည်းကမ်းများကို လိုက်နာကာ သွားရောက်လေ့လာဖို့ ဆုံးဖြတ်ခဲ့သည်။ ကျွန်ုပ်တို့၏လုပ်ဖော်ကိုင်ဖက်တစ်ဦးဖြစ်သော ကိုနိုင်မင်းဦးသည် သြဂုတ်လအလယ်အတွင် မိုးမုန်တိုင်းများနှင့် ယိုယွင်းနေသောလမ်းများကြားကပင် သွားရောက်လေ့လာနိုင်ခဲ့သည်။ ကျောင်းဆရာတစ်ယောက်၏အကူအညီဖြင့် စာသင်ကျောင်းအဆောက်အအုံနှင့် ကျောင်းဝင်းတို့အကြောင်းကို ပထမဦးစွာလေ့လာနိုင်ခဲ့သည်။

ထို့နောက် ကျောင်းအုပ်ဆရာ၊ ကျောင်းကော်မတီအဖွဲ့ဝင်တစ်ဦးနှင့် တစ်ခြားဆရာ၊ ဆရာမများတို့နှင့် တွေ့ဆုံနိုင်ခဲ့ပြီး ကျောင်းသန့်ရှင်းရေးနှင့်ထိန်းသိမ်းပုံတို့ကို အပြန်အလှန်ဆွေးနွေးခဲ့ကြသည်။ ကျောင်း၏ အောင်မြင်မှုများ၊ အခက်အခဲများနှင့် အနာဂတ်အစီအစဉ်များကိုလည်း မေးမြန်းခဲ့သည်။ စာသင်ကျောင်း၊ စာသင်ခန်းနှင့် ကျောင်းသား၊ကျောင်းသူတို့ကို ဓာတ်ပုံများ ရိုက်ယူခဲ့ပြီး ထိုပုံများကိုအောက်တွင် ကြည့်ရှုနိုင်ပါသည်။

စာသင်ကျောင်းအဆောက်အအုံသည် သန့်ရှင်းလျက်ရှိပြီး သေချာထိန်းသိမ်းထားသည်ကို တွေ့ရှိရပြီး ကျောင်းအုပ်အသစ်သည် ကလေးများအနားယူနိုင်ရန် ပန်းပင်၊သစ်ပင်များစိုကခြင်းဖြင့် ပိုမိုစိမ်းလန်းသော နေရာတစ်ခုကို ဖန်တီးရန် ကတိပြုလိုက်သည်။ ခြုံငုံကြည့်လိုက်လျှင် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့၏ မြေပြင်လေ့လာသူ မန်နေဂျာကတော့ Studer Trust ၏ကနဦး ကြိုးပမ်းမှုများကို ကျေနပ်ဖွယ်ကောင်းသည်ဟု မှတ်ချက်ပြုလိုက်ပါသည်။ အဆိုပါကြိုးပမ်းမှုများကြောင့် ဆယ်တန်းကျောင်းသားများသည် စာသင်ကျောင်းတွင် အဆင်ပြေပြေသင်ယူနိုင်ကြမည်ဖြစ်ပါသည်။ နောင်တွင်လည်း ချောင်းဆုံကြီးအထက်တန်းကျောင်းနှင့် ပူးပေါင်းလုပ်ကိုင်သွားဖို့ကိုလည်း ကျွန်ုပ်တို့အနေဖြင့် ဝမ်းမြောက်စိတ်လှုပ်ရှားလျက်ရှိပါသည်။ ကျောင်းအုပ်ကတော့ ‘Struder Trust ရဲ့ ဒီလို စီစစ်လေ့လာမှုတွေက လာမယ့်အနာဂတ်မှာ ကျောင်းသားတွေအတွက် တာဝန်ယူမှု၊တာဝန်ခံမှုတို့အတွက် တန်ဖိုးရှိတဲ့အရာတစ်ခုပါ။” ဟု မှတ်ချက်ပေးခဲ့ပါသည်။
